Grace Baptist Fellowship

About Us

…to the praise of His glorious grace.

Grace.  As one dictionary defines it:

Grace is the dimension of divine activity that enables God to confront human indifference and rebellion with an inexhaustible capacity to forgive and to bless.[i]

We at Grace Baptist Fellowship have been gripped by that grace.   A grace that forgives and blesses.  A grace that is inexhaustible.  We wholeheartedly believe that our salvation is all to the praise of His glorious grace.(Eph 1:6Open Link in New Window)

And this divine-and thus powerful!-inexhaustible, forgiving, and blessing grace is free to us, but was immeasurably costly to God.

It cost Him His only Son (Jn. 3:16Open Link in New Window).  God’s word tells us that He gave Him up for us all (Rm. 8:32) and that it was the will of the Lord to crush Him (Isa. 53:10Open Link in New Window).  It was all a part of God’s master plan to crush His Son Jesus Christ on the cross, so that we might receive inexhaustible grace.

And then, take into account the reality that apart from God’s grace we are indifferent and rebellious and the reason to rejoice (as if there weren’t reason enough already) is only multiplied.

This is the great salvation story of the Bible.  God gives to unworthy, indifferent, rebellious creatures, who have trampled underfoot his good laws and shunned his lovingkindness: grace.  Grace to believe. Grace to see the horrible nature of their sin. Grace to see the  marvelous beauties of Christ and His work on their behalf. Grace to live a life of humble gratitude and service to their great God and Savior, King and Father.

We are a church indebted to and enamored by God’s grace.

Different

Difference is a characteristic that many churches are promoting today as what makes them uniquely appealing.

“We’re not your average church….”

“We’re creative… innovative… cutting edge… different…”

But something ironic has happened.  Churches are so busy trying to be different-usually by following the example of another different church-that they’re all beginning to look the same!

We think we can rightly claim to be different, but not in the same way that many do today.

We’re different because in the midst of a day and age when much of the professing Church is being swallowed up by the culture around her, often times to the point of sorrowfully losing sight of the foundations upon which she was built, we are firmly committed to walking in the ancient paths, where the good way is (Jer. 6:16Open Link in New Window).

That is not to say that we do not enjoy or employ newer musical styles of worship music-we do, as well as the old hymns.  Nor do we intend to give the impression that we are seeking to tread some of the unfortunate old paths of the past that were many times forged without biblical warrant.

What we are saying is that we have no desire whatsoever to compromise the integrity and to mar the beauty of Christ’s Church by giving way to the latest trends, many of which run clearly contrary to the Scriptures.

Christ Centered

We are wholly committed to keeping our fellowship and all that we do Christ-centered.

God’s word declares of Jesus Christ that…

…by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-all things were created through Him and for Him.  And He is   before all things, and in him all things hold together (Col. 1:16-17Open Link in New Window).

Jesus said, the Scriptures (that is, all of the Bible) …bear witness about me (Jn. 5:39Open Link in New Window).

And the Holy Spirit tells us that one day…at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Phil. 2:10-11Open Link in New Window).

It is our desire, like God’s Word, to make much of the Lord Jesus Christ in all that we do.

Our preaching and teaching seeks to be biblically grounded, doctrinally rich, practically relevant, and Christ-centered.

If you already share these convictions with us or you are interested in finding out more about us we would love to hear from you.
